Abba Mania!!

The next Project I did was inspired by the 1970's Designer Bill Gibb from Fraserburgh!
In the early 1970s unconventionality he was the order of the day and Gibb was one of several young designers in the British wholesale market whose work reflected this trend. He responded to the new predilection for romantic and ethnic clothes, inspired by the folk costumes of Europe or the Far East and displaying  a feeling of nostalgia for the dress of an earlier historical age, with his full-length skirts and billowing slashed sleeves.

Gibb was a designer that is often associated with Zandra, Rhodes, Ossie Clark and Celia Birtwell all Huge Designer in the 70's famous for there iconic prints, using light fabrics and loose fitting clothing.
From this I designed an A-Symmetric Jumpsuit made from printed chiffon designed by Textile designer Emma Gascoine and silver Velour. I challenged myself by using panels and gathering. Creating a velour backless top with gathered sleeves, joined to velour shorts with sheer panelled trousers over the top. This was a Group Project with a Textile  Designer and two Fashion Designers, the final image is a picture of my jumpsuit and a dress created from the same fabrics made by Tracey Bruce.
