Mare Machines

“Humans are enslaved like horses and horses are made into machines”

19th century riding habits juxtaposed with the contemporary sport of endurance riding creates the basis of my inspiration, while being loosely based around this quote from “Black Beauty”. By incorporating land maps mixed with  costumes and fashion from the Victorian era, my collection has a timeless, hourglass silhouette together with flowing drapes and flattering tailoring. Using a range of lavish fabrics from woven tweeds to quality leathers, has given the garments a sense of classic luxury. Semi-plain cloths and daring colour highlights off-set the woven patterns and create an exciting mix of textures and pattern and an essentially feminine statement.

So the time has come I am now a fully qualified fashion designer. All that hard work and tears has now left me with a BA(Hons) Fashion Design with first class honours.

Here are some images from my final photo shoot...

Busy Busy Busy!

This week has been a very busy week for me ...

I have been jet setting off to LONDAN BABY!! for a flying visit and an interview at LCF so fingers crossed i get in.

Also We had our casting at Grays for our Fashion show so now we are fully equipped and prepped with our 18 fantastic models. Please watch out for the tickets going on sale, It will be very soon, but i will keep you posted.

I also done a fantastic location shoot with Louise Carnegie Photography and model Ellis O'Connor a face to watch (MUA: Stephanie Mclean). Louise did a great job in capturing the atmosphere of my collection as it was set in the countryside surrounded by beautiful scottish rolling heather moors. The colours complimented the garments perfectly. So here is a wee sneak peek for you.

Libby Walker

So just recently i have discovered an amazing illustrator based in Glasgow - Libby Walker.

Her stuff is very intricate with a fantastic flair and includes everything i LOVE. She uses land maps and draws on top or laser cuts her designs in to it she has also done laser cutting onto wood. Her designs are very linear and often contained in a circle.  as she Juxtaposes the circle by often using  archatecture as her inspiration and SCOTTISH  architecture at that!

And Guess What she has donated one of her wonderful illustrations to Fashion @ Gray's School Of Art for our Fashion Show Catalogue. Oh aren't we lucky fashionistas! So heres a sneak peak of things to come in the near future. So keep updated as Tickets for the show will be on sale very soon....

Please show you support and follow her on her successes

Photo shoot time!!

Hey Fashionistas, Sorry I haven't Posted in a while but it has been a busy time trying to crack on with my final collection.

I know you all already know what its all about as I have posted it about 5 times...so here is something a bit more exciting....

So here we go! This past week we had to photograph our garments for the Degree show Catalogue. The inspiration for my shoot came from the Ad Campaign by PRADA A/W 09. I thought this collection was beautiful probably one of my favourites, but the styling was even better, I love the juxtaposition of something as simple and some may say boring as fishing. However  Prada has gave it this sexy, slightly fetish look which just makes the clothes look even stronger. Therefore I tried to attempt this type of shot by creating an atmosphere of my own. The Models Sam and Hannah were fantastic and totally worked it. I was over the moon with the final photos. Have a wee peek yourself and let me know your thoughts.
